Some customers may comment on a creak, pop, clunk noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The noise is noticable during slow parking lot maneuvers, and is mostly evident in a completely stopped condition when turning the steering wheel left and right.
At this time, analysis of parts and information received from GM dealers indicates the strut components are not the cause of front end noise. While the strut components do not seem to be the source of the noise, they are contributing to the noise level. At this time, this appears to be a front suspension system issue.
The noise also appears to be dependent on road conditions. Engineering is able to eliminate the noise by changing surface conditions. Often the noise will not return until the vehicle was allowed to sit overnight. The noise appears to be most noticeable on an asphalt surface.
At this time, engineering no longer needs any more information or components for analysis. Engineering will continue to root cause this condition based on information and parts already collected from the field.
Utilize J 39570, if necessary, to help isolate the cause of the noise. Diagnose and repair as necessary.
Use the appropriate labor operation that corresponds with the repair performed.
