This bulletin is being revised to provide corrective action. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-08-49-007 (Section 08 -- Body and Accessories).


Condition

Important: If the customer did not bring their vehicle in for this condition, do not proceed with this bulletin.

Some customers may comment that the seatbelt telltale/light on the IP is coming on intermittently when the seatbelt is fastened.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the chime wiring harness chaffing on the seat belt buckle bracket when the seat is moved/adjusted.

Correction

Use the following procedure to correct this condition.

  1. Remove the seat from the vehicle.
  2. Remove the storage tray from the seat.
  3. Remove the side panel from the seat.
  4. Remove the buckle assembly from the seat.
  5. Loosen the seat adjuster bolt. Unclip and remove the chime wire from the rear.
  6. Repair the chaffed wire.
  7. Pull the buckle end of the assembly until the buckle and fabric separate from the plastic end.
  8. Modify the plastic piece of the seat belt buckle assembly following these steps:
  9. 8.1. Using an 8 mm drill bit, drill from the inside of the plastic to the outside. This process uses the existing hole on the inboard side as a guide for drilling the hole in the correct location on the outboard side of the plastic piece.
    8.2. Using the drill bit or a utility knife, duplicate the slot (located on the inboard side of the plastic piece) to the outboard side of the plastic piece.

    8.3. Reassemble the seat belt buckle assembly, routing the chime wire harness out the outboard side of the assembly.
  10. Route and connect the chime wire harness to the seat assembly.
  11. Tighten the seat adjuster bolt.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the seat adjuster bolt to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  13. Attach the seat belt buckle assembly to the seat.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten to 53 N·m (39 lb ft).

  15. Attach the side panel and storage tray to the seat.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  17. Install seat assembly in the vehicle.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
