The number below refers to the step number on the diagnostic table.

  1. Repeat the procedure in step 2 for the driver and passenger door lock cylinders.

DEFINITION: The Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system does not disarm when the vehicle is unlocked with the key.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Remove the key from the ignition.
  2. Lock the vehicle doors with the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitter.
  3. Close all doors and allow the CTD system to arm.
  4. Use the key to unlock the vehicle.

Does the vehicle door unlock?

Go to Step 3

Does the CTD System disarm when the doors are unlocked?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the harness connector of the driver door key switch.
  2. Close all vehicle doors.
  3. Re-arm the CTD System.
  4. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire from the door lock key switch unlock signal circuit to the ground circuit of the driver door key switch at the harness connector of the driver door key switch.

Does the CTD System disarm when the jumper wire is connected?

Go to Step 9

Connect the 3-amp fused jumper wire from the door lock key switch unlock signal circuit to a good ground.

Does the CTD System disarm when the jumper wire is connected?

Go to Step 6

Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the driver door key switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Test the door lock key switch unlock signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs.

Inspect for loose or poor connections at the harness connector of the body control module (BCM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs.

Inspect for loose or poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door key switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup, and programming.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
