Removal Procedure
- Remove the engine oil cooler. Refer to
Engine Oil Cooler Replacement .
- Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector (2).
- Remove the nut securing the engine wiring harness clip to the oil filter adapter stud.
- Reposition the engine wiring harness out of the way.
- Remove the oil filter adapter bolts and stud.
- Remove the oil filter adapter and gasket from the engine block.
- Discard the oil filter gasket.
- If replacing the oil filter adapter, remove the oil pressure sensor.
- If replacing the oil filter bypass valve, insert a flat bladed tool into the oil filter bypass hole and remove the valve.
Installation Procedure
Caution: Maximum gasket performance is achieved when using new fasteners, which contain a thread-locking patch. If the fasteners are not replaced, a thread locking chemical must be applied to
the fastener threads. Failure to replace the fasteners or apply a thread-locking chemical MAY reduce gasket sealing capability.
- If the oil filter bypass valve was replaced, seat the valve fully below the bypass valve hole chamfer.
- If the oil filter adapter was replaced, lubricate the oil pressure sensor seal with clean engine oil.
- Apply sealant to the threads of the oil pressure sensor. Refer to
Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the oil pressure sensor to the oil filter adapter and tighten to
16 N·m (12 lb ft)
.
- Apply sealant to the bolt/stud threads, if required. Refer to
Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
- Position the NEW oil filter gasket and the oil filter adapter to the engine block.
- Install the oil filter adapter bolts and stud and tighten to
25 N·m (18 lb ft)
.
- Install the engine wiring harness clip to the oil filter adapter stud.
- Install the engine wiring harness nut and tighten to
12 N·m (106 lb in)
.
- Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector (2).
- Install the engine oil cooler. Refer to
Engine Oil Cooler Replacement .
