The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that the Service Engine Soon light is illuminated. Upon inspection you may find DTC P0172 (Fuel Trim System Rich).
Recommendation/Instructions:
Follow the diagnostic information contained in SI. In addition check the alcohol content of the fuel in the tank using J44175 or J-44175-A (Fuel Composition Tester). If everything is functioning properly then reprogram the PCM with a new service calibration using the TIS2WEB Service Programming System (SPS) application. As always, make sure your Tech 2® is updated with the latest software version.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
