Did you review the rear quarter window description and operation?

Verify that the rear quarter windows are inoperative.

Do the rear quarter windows operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Are both rear quarter windows inoperative?

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the rear quarter window switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Probe the accessory voltage circuit of the rear quarter window switch harness connector with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

Connect a test lamp between the accessory voltage circuit of the rear quarter window switch harness connector and the ground circuit of the rear quarter window switch harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the appropriate rear quarter window actuator.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor rear vents open control circuit of the rear quarter window actuator harness connector and the power window motor rear vents close control circuit of the rear quarter window actuator harness connector.
  5. Activate the rear quarter window switch to the Open and Close positions.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Test the accessory voltage circuit for an open or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 14

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear quarter window switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 14

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the appropriate rear quarter window actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the ground circuit of the rear quarter window switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the appropriate power window motor rear vents control circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the rear quarter window switch. Refer to Quarter Window Switch Replacement .

Replace the appropriate rear quarter window actuator. Refer to Body Side Window Actuator Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
