Suction Hose Replacement LX9

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

Important: Cap or tape the open air conditioning (A/C) components immediately in order to prevent system contamination.


    Object Number: 1713520  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the A/C suction hose to A/C evaporator tube bolt.
  3. Remove the suction hose from the A/C evaporator tube.
  4. Remove and discard the sealing washer.
  5. Cap or tape off the A/C evaporator tube.
  6. Remove the radiator air baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors.
  7. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.

  9. Remove the A/C suction hose to A/C compressor nut.
  10. Remove the A/C suction hose from the A/C compressor.
  11. Remove and discard the sealing washer.
  12. Remove the A/C suction hose (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1713518  Size: SH
  1. Install new sealing washers to the A/C suction hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  2. Remove the cap or tape from the suction port on the A/C compressor.
  3. Install the A/C suction hose (1) to the A/C compressor.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the suction hose to A/C compressor nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  7. Remove the cap or tape from the evaporator tube.
  8. Install the A/C suction hose to the A/C evaporator tube.
  9. Install the A/C suction hose to A/C evaporator tube bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  11. Connect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
  12. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  13. Leak test the fittings of the A/C components using the J 39400-A .

  5. Cap or tape off the A/C evaporator tube.

  7. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.

  9. Remove the A/C suction hose to A/C compressor nut.
  10. Remove the A/C suction hose from the A/C compressor.
  11. Remove and discard the sealing washer.
  12. Cap or tape the A/C suction port on the A/C compressor.
  13. Remove the A/C suction hose (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install new sealing washers to the A/C suction hose. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  2. Remove the cap or tape from the suction port on the A/C compressor.
  3. Install the A/C suction hose (1) to the A/C compressor.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the A/C suction hose to A/C compressor nut.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  7. Remove the cap or tape from the evaporator tube.
  8. Install the A/C suction hose to the A/C evaporator tube.
  9. Install the A/C suction hose to A/C evaporator tube bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  11. Connect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
  12. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  13. Leak test the fittings of the A/C components using the J 39400-A .
