The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may report they are unable to seek and/or search the Phatnoise (RPO option UMS) content from the Radio and/or SWC (Steering Wheel Controls) after the Radio has been replaced. Furthermore, the customer may report that the remote and rear seat controls work as designed. Engineering has determined the Phatnoise feature is not being enable in the Radio allowing the system to navigate through the stored content. The Tech 2 software will be updated in the near future to allow the option to be enabled when a replacement Radio is set-up.
Prior to ordering and/or replacing a radio for any concern, run a inquire on the GM VIS system. If determined the vehicle is equipped with RPO UMS (Phatnoise) the dealer will need to contact Specmo Enterprises in Madison Heights, Michigan. Specmo will ship a radio with the current operating software version 660 and the Phatnoise feature enabled. Specmo Enterprises can be reached @ (248) 307-2570 or (800) 545-7911.
Note: If the Vehicle is NOT equipped with the UMS RPO any of the local authorized ESC (Electronic Service Centers) can be contacted for a replacement Radio.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
