Circuit/System Verification

Important: Before performing this diagnostics, make sure no indicator(s) are illuminated after the IPC performs a lamp test. If any indicators are illuminated after the bulb test, perform the indicator diagnostics before this diagnostics.

  1. Ignition ON, headlamp switch OFF, verify the scan tool Headlamp Switch parameter is Inactive.
  2. If not Inactive, refer to Headlamps Malfunction.
  3. Ignition ON, doors closed, verify the scan tool All Door Lock Command is On.
  4. If not On, refer to Courtesy Lamps Malfunction.
  5. Verify that the Key In Ignition Cylinder Switch parameter is Active when the key is in the ignition and Inactive when the key is out of the ignition.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the key in ignition switch.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground.
  3. If greater than 1 ohm, test the circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.
  4. Verify the BCM scan tool Key In Ignition Cylinder Switch parameter is Inactive.
  5. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 1 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  6. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 and the ground circuit terminal 2. Verify the scan tool Key In Ignition Cylinder Switch parameter displays Active.
  7. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
  8. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the ignition switch.

Repair Instructions
