The rear quarter windows are operated using the rear quarter window switch in the overhead console multifunction switch assembly. The rear quarter window switch is supplied power when the ignition is in RUN or retained accessory power (RAP) is enabled.
When the rear quarter window switch is activated to the Open position, battery positive voltage is applied to the rear quarter window actuators through the power quarter window motor open control circuit. Ground for the actuators is provided by the power quarter window motor close control circuit through the close side of the rear quarter window switch.
When the rear quarter window switch is activated to the Close position, battery positive voltage is applied to the rear quarter window actuators through the power quarter window motor close control circuit. Ground for the actuators is provided by the power quarter window motor open control circuit through the open side of the rear quarter window switch.
Power Windows Description and Operation
Ignition ON, command the rear quarter windows to OPEN and CLOSE by using the rear quarter window switch. The rear quarter windows should perform the OPEN and CLOSE functions.
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit a short to ground or an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the rear quarter window switch. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If circuits test normal, replace the rear quarter window switch. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate during either of the commands, test either control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the overhead console multifunction switch. |
⇒ | If less than the specified value, replace the overhead console multifunction switch. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, replace the overhead console multifunction switch. |
⇒ | If greater than the specified range, replace the overhead console multifunction switch. |
⇒ | If the function does not perform as specified, replace the rear quarter window actuator. |
⇒ | If the function does not perform as specified, replace the rear quarter window actuator. |
