Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement.
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  3. Position a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any draining power steering fluid.

  4. Object Number: 1831861  Size: SH
  5. Compress the clamp and disconnect the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose from the power steering reservoir.

  6. Object Number: 1831815  Size: SH
  7. Remove the power steering pump and gear inlet pipe/hoses routing clip nut at the generator.
  8. Separate the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose from the routing clip.

  9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  10. Remove the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement.

  12. Remove the power steering pump inlet pipe routing bolt from the engine block.

  13. Object Number: 1831719  Size: SH
  14. Compress the clamp (1) and disconnect the power steering inlet pipe/hose (2) from the cooler pipe (3).
  15. Remove the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 1831719  Size: SH
  3. Compress the clamp (1) and connect the power steering inlet pipe/hose (2) to the cooler pipe (3).
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1831886  Size: SH
  5. Install the power steering pump inlet pipe routing bolt from the engine block. Tighten the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose routing bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
  6. Remove the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement.
  7. Lower the vehicle.

  8. Object Number: 1831815  Size: SH
  9. Position the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose to the routing clip and install the nut. Tighten the power steering pipe/hose routing clip nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  10. Object Number: 1831861  Size: SH
  11. Compress the clamp and connect the power steering pump inlet pipe/hose to the power steering reservoir.
  12. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  13. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  14. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement.
  15. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
