Automatic Level Control Sensor Replacement Twist Axle

Removal Procedure

    Caution: When you are servicing the automatic level control sensor link, ensure that the sensor link and the sensor arm are not damaged. Ensure the sensor arm and the sensor link are properly oriented. Improper orientation of the sensor arm and the sensor link may cause damage to the automatic level control system or the vehicle.

  1. Remove the ELC/TRAILER fuse.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the ALC sensor connector.
  4. Remove the ALC sensor link (3) from the ball stud (1).

  5. Object Number: 343463  Size: MH
  6. Remove the ALC sensor bracket bolts/screws.
  7. Remove the ALC sensor with the bracket (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the ALC sensor and bracket (2) to the vehicle.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the height sensor bolts/screws and tighten to 12 N·m (106 lb in) .

  4. Object Number: 343463  Size: MH
  5. Install the ALC sensor link (3) to the ball stud (1).
  6. Install the ALC sensor connector.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the ELC/TRAILER fuse.

Automatic Level Control Sensor Replacement IRS

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the ELC/TRAILER fuse.
  2. Note: When replacing the height sensor a diagnostic system check must be performed .

  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  4. Object Number: 881329  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the automatic level control (ALC) sensor electrical connector (1).
  6. Remove the ALC sensor link from the sensor arm ball stud.

  7. Object Number: 881333  Size: SH
  8. Remove the ALC sensor bracket bolts (1).
  9. Remove the ALC sensor from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 881333  Size: SH
  1. Install the ALC sensor to the vehicle.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the height sensor bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 85 N·m (63 lb ft) .
  4. Install the ALC sensor link onto the sensor arm ball stud .

  5. Object Number: 881329  Size: SH
  6. Install the ALC height sensor electrical connector (1).
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the ELC/TRAILER fuse.
  9. Perform a diagnostic system check. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle .
