Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 2009 🢒 Uplander Ext. 🢒 Safety and Security 🢒 Supplemental Inflatable Restraints 🢒 Steering Column Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  2. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the multifunction switch.

    4. Object Number: 322946 Size: SH
  4. Remove the wiring harness (1) from the steering column harness strap (2).
  5. Disconnect the multifunction switch electrical connectors from the steering column wiring harness.

    6. Object Number: 322982 Size: SH
  6. Remove the multifunction switch retaining screws (1).
  7. Remove the multifunction switch (2) from the steering column.
  8. Remove the SIR coil from the steering column shaft. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the multifunction switch (2) to the steering column tilt head. Verify that the electrical contact of the turn signal switch rests on the horn ring.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 322982 Size: SH
  2. Install the multifunction switch screws (1) and tighten to 3 N·m (26 lb in) .

    3. Object Number: 306234 Size: SH
  3. Install 2 electrical connectors (2) of the multifunction switch into the bulkhead connector.
  4. Connect the multifunction switch connector to the SIR coil connector.

    5. Object Number: 322946 Size: SH
  5. Attach the wire harness (1) to the steering column with new wire harness straps.
  6. Install the wire harness (1) to the wire harness strap.
  7. Install the SIR coil to the steering column shaft. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement.
  8. Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  9. Enable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
