Verify ALC system operation.

Does the ALC system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the ALC sensor.
  2. Connect a 10 A fused jumper between the ALC sensor connector harness compressor signal circuit and ground.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Did the ALC air compressor activate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the 10 A fused jumper.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive circuit of the ALC sensor connector and a good ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Repair the open in the ALC relay coil supply voltage circuit.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Connect a test lamp between the battery positive circuit of the ALC sensor connector and a good ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Replace the ALC air inflator relay. Refer to Automatic Level Control Relay Replacement .

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

  1. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the fused ignition 2 feed circuit of the ALC sensor connector and a good ground

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

Repair the open in the ground circuit of the ALC sensor connector.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

Replace the ALC sensor. Refer to Automatic Level Control Sensor Replacement .

Repair the open in the accessory voltage circuit.

Did you complete the repair?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
