Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the left rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  3. Release the cable tension. Refer to Rear Side Door Actuator Cable Tension Adjustment .
  4. Visually confirm that the cables are slack by observing that the center white dots are below the white indicator bands.
  5. Remove the left rear taillamp assembly. Refer to Tail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.

  7. Remove the cable guide bracket bolts.
  8. Slide the guide bracket pulley cover off of the pulley and lift the rear cable off of the guide bracket pulley.
  9. Remove the cable guide bracket from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Slide the cable onto the cable guide bracket pulley
  2. Install the cable guide bracket pulley cover to the cable guide bracket pulley.
  3. Position the cable guide bracket to the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the cable guide bracket bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the cable guide bracket bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the left rear taillamp. Refer to Tail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  8. Adjust the cable tension. Refer to Rear Side Door Actuator Cable Tension Adjustment .
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  10. Perform the reinitialization procedure. Refer to Power Sliding Door (PSD) Re-Initialization .
  11. Install the left rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Lower Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
