J 39505 Torque Wrench Adapter

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the engine mount struts from the engine. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement .
  3. Remove the A/C compressor mounting bolts and set the compressor aside. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  4. Install the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture .
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  6. Disconnect the catalytic converter pipe from the engine right side exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  7. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .

  9. Remove the oil level sensor wiring harness connection.
  10. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  11. Remove the transaxle brace from the oil pan. Refer to Transmission Brace Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  12. Loosen the transaxle mount lower nuts. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  13. Remove the engine mount lower nuts. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  14. Raise the engine using the engine support fixture in order to gain access for oil pan removal. Refer to Engine Support Fixture .
  15. Remove the engine mount bracket with the engine mount from the oil pan. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement .
  16. Disconnect the right lower ball joint from the steering knuckle. Refer to the appropriate procedure in Front Suspension.
  17. Disconnect the right outer tie rod from the steering knuckle. Refer to appropriate procedure in Power Steering System.
  18. Remove the right side frame bolts.
  19. Loosen the left side frame bolts.
  20. Important: Use the J 39505 in order to remove the engine right side oil pan side bolts.

  21. Remove the oil pan and the oil pan gasket. Refer to Oil Pan Removal .
  22. Clean the oil pan and the engine block gasket surface. Refer to Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 105907  Size: MH

    Important: Use the J 39505 in order to install the engine right side oil pan side bolts.

  1. Install the oil pan gasket and the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Installation .
  2. Tighten the left side frame bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).

  4. Install the right side frame bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).

  6. Connect the right lower ball joint from the steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Front Suspension.
  7. Connect the right outer tie rod from the steering knuckle. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement in Power Steering System.
  8. Install the engine mount bracket with the engine mount to the oil pan. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement .
  9. Use the engine support fixture in order to lower the engine.
  10. Install the transaxle mount lower nuts. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  11. Install the engine mount lower nuts. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  12. Install the transaxle brace to the oil pan. Refer to Transmission Brace Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  13. Install the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  15. Install the oil level sensor wiring harness connection.
  16. Connect the catalytic converter pipe to the engine right side exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18. Remove the engine support fixture. Refer to Engine Support Fixture .
  19. Install the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  20. Install the engine mount struts to the engine. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement .
  21. Fill the engine with oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  22. Connect the negative battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
