Removal Procedure
- Remove the right side instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor resistor/relay.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor.
- Loosen both of the forward mounting screws.
- Remove the rearward mounting screw.
- Remove the blower motor resistor/relay.
Do not remove the forward mounting screws.
The blower motor resistor/relay opening is slotted because the access is extremely limited.
Important: Be careful when removing the blower motor resistor/relay. The resistor/relay is a ceramic card.
Installation Procedure
- Install the blower motor resistor/relay card and the attaching screws.
- Install the rearward mounting screw.
- Tighten both forward mounting screws.
- Connect the electrical connector from the blower resistor/relay to the blower motor.
- Connect the electrical connector to the blower motor resistor/relay.
- Install the right-side instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the rearward mounting screw to 1.9 N·m (16 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the forward mounting screws to 1.9 N·m (16 lb in).
