Verify PRNDL display is inaccurate. Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Install a scan tool.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. With a scan tool, observe the PRNDL position in the PCM data list.

Is the PRNDL position on the scan tool the same as the PRNDL position on the vehicle?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls - 3.4L

Important: Perform the set up procedure for the replacement IPC.

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement and the set up procedure?

Go to Step 5

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
