Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
  3. Remove the filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter and Seal Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 164809  Size: SH
  5. Remove the accumulator bolts (131).
  6. Remove the manual 2-1 band servo cover bolts (103).

  7. Object Number: 262607  Size: SH
  8. Use a large flat-bladed tool in order to gently pry the lube oil pipe retainer (129) from the case.
  9. Remove the lube oil pipe (130) from the front differential carrier internal gear lube hole.

  10. Object Number: 164810  Size: SH
  11. Remove the accumulator (132).
  12. Remove the manual 2-1 band servo cover (104).

  13. Object Number: 164811  Size: SH
  14. Remove the manual 2-1 band servo (106-116).
  15. Remove the manual 2-1 band servo cover gasket (105).
  16. To disassemble, inspect and service the accumulator and manual 2-1 band servo, refer to the Transmission/Transaxle/Transfer Case Unit Repair Manual.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 164811  Size: SH
  1. Install the manual 2-1 band servo cover gasket (105) into the case. Lubricate the manual 2-1 band servo cover gasket with automatic transmission fluid.
  2. Install the manual 2-1 band servo (106-116).
  3. Install the manual 2-1 band servo cover (104).
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the manual 2-1 band servo cover bolts (103).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (103) to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the accumulator (132).
  8. Install the lube oil pipe (130) into the case at the lube hole for the front differential carrier internal gear.
  9. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to lock the lube oil pipe retainer (129) into the case.

  10. Object Number: 164809  Size: SH
  11. Install the accumulator bolts (131).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (131) to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  13. If removed, install a new filter seal.
  14. Install the filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter and Seal Replacement .
  15. Install the oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement .
  16. Important: It is recommended that the transmission adaptive pressure (TAP) information be reset. Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, the ECM, PCM or TCM will need to relearn TAP values. Transmission performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.

  17. Reset the TAP values. Refer to Adapt Function.
  18. Lower the vehicle.
