Removal Procedure

Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

Notice: When the hood is removed from the vehicle, do not stand the hood on the rear corners. Damage to the paint and sheet metal may occur.

  1. Install the protective coverings over the fenders in order to prevent damage to the paint when removing or installing the hood.
  2. Open and support the hood.
  3. Mark the location of the hood hinge to the hood (1, 2) for alignment when re-installing the hood.

  4. Object Number: 315256  Size: SH
  5. Remove the hood bolts from each side of the hood at the hinge.
  6. Remove the hood from the hood hinges with an assistant.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hood to the hood hinges with an assistant.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the hood bolts to each side of the hood at the hinge.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb in).

  5. Remove the protective coverings from the adjacent body panels.
  6. Align the hood, if required. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
