J 25070 Heat Gun

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 441629  Size: SH
  1. Use J 25070 152 mm (6 in) from the surface to heat the lower edge of the sliding door molding.
  2. Use a circular motion for 30 seconds when applying the heat.

    Notice: Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing an emblem/name plate.

  3. Use a plastic flat-bladed tool to remove the lower edge of the molding from the surface.
  4. Pull the lower edge of the molding out to release the retainers and locating pins.
  5. Pull the lower edge of the molding up to release the molding from the upper support.
  6. Remove the molding from the door.
  7. Pull out the center pins of the support retainers.
  8. Use J 25070 152 mm (6 in) from the surface, to heat the molding support.
  9. Use a circular motion for 30 seconds when applying the heat.

    Notice: Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing an emblem/name plate.

  10. Use a plastic flat-bladed tool to remove the molding support from the surface.
  11. Remove the molding support from the door.
  12. Use oil-free naphtha or alcohol to clean all traces of adhesive from the body panel.

Installation Procedure

    Important: 

       • Do NOT touch the exposed adhesive tape with your hands.
       • Do NOT allow the exposed adhesive tape to collect any dirt or foreign material.

  1. Remove the protective liner from the back side of the support.
  2. Use a J 25070 to warm the door to a minimum of 21°C (70°F), if necessary.
  3. Insert the support retainers into the holes, starting at the front.
  4. Press the support firmly.
  5. Push in the center pins of the retainers.

  7. Remove the protective liner from the back side of the door molding.
  8. Install the molding to the door.
  9. Press the center flange of the door molding into the 2 outer retainers.
  10. Press the lower locating pins into the holes in the door.
  11. Press the center flange of the door molding into the retainers.
  12. Push the upper portion of the door molding inboard over the retainers.
  13. Press firmly on the bottom of the molding inboard.
