Service VME - Hard Start, No Start, or Stall

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

This is a service VME for all Chevrolet, Pontiac and Oldsmobile dealers regarding hard start, no start, or stall complaints on 2002 and 2003 Ventures, Silhouettes and Montanas. A condition exists where the PCM harness may chafe on the radiator core support as it exits the air box. Protective conduit is on the harness to prevent this , but dealer reports indicate it is not always positioned correctly. To remedy this condition, repair any damaged wire and reposition the conduit. Changes were made in production to prevent this from occurring in the future.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
