Service VME - Front Seat Belt Extender Information - bind fit loose part

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

This is a service VME for all Chevrolet, Pontiac and Oldsmobile dealers regarding 2003 model year seat belts on Venture, Silhouette, and Montana models. A change was made to the seat belt system in production on October 7, 2002. This change was made to give better insertion efforts and improve customer satisfaction with the seat belt operation. Both the retractor side and the buckle side of the system were changed. The parts involved are not interchangeable. If a 2003 model year U-Van was built before 10/7/02, it has 2002 MY parts. Vehicles built 10/7/02 and later use 2003 MY parts.

If a customer needs a seat belt extender, the vehicle must have the earlier style seat belt system. An extender has not yet been developed for the new system. If a customer has a U-van built after 10/7/02, and needs a seat belt extender, replace both the belt retractor and buckle with the 2002 model year parts.
