J 25070 Heat Gun

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the molding. Refer to Door Body Side Molding Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 762219  Size: SH

    Caution: Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye damage.

  3. To release the molding push-in retainers, perform the following steps:
  4. 2.1. Drill a 3 mm (0.125 in) hole into the center locking pin of the push-in retainer.
    2.2. Install a 3.175 mm (0.125 in) screw into the center locking pin of the push-in retainer.
    2.3. Use a pair of pliers to pull out the screw and unlock the push-in retainer.
  5. Using J 25070 , heat the upper edge of the retainer using a circular motion 152 mm (6 in) from the retainer for 30 seconds.
  6. Notice: Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing an emblem/name plate.

  7. Use a plastic flat-bladed tool to remove the retainer from the outer door panel.

Installation Procedure

  1. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the area of the panel where the retainer will be installed.
  2. Use a J 25070 to heat the outer door panel surface to 27-41°C (80-105°F), if necessary.
  3. Ensure that the retainer is approximately room temperature 22°C (72°F).

  4. Object Number: 762219  Size: SH

    Important: Do NOT touch the adhesive backing on the retainer.

  5. Remove the protective liner from the back of the retainer.
  6. Align the push-in retainers to the holes in the outer door panel.
  7. Press the molding to the outer door panel until fully seated.
  8. Press on the retainer center locking pins until fully seated.
  9. Install the molding to the side door. Refer to Door Body Side Molding Replacement .
