J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

  1. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  2. Remove the front door opening weather-strips. Refer to Front Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement in Doors.
  3. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  4. Remove the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  5. Remove the dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  6. Remove the rear headliner trim finishing molding. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Molding Replacement .
  7. Remove the upper pillar garnish molding. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  8. Remove the body side rear upper garnish molding. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  9. Remove the rear corner upper garnish molding. Refer to Upper Rear Trim Finish Panel Replacement .
  10. Remove the reading lamps. Refer to Roof Side Rail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  11. Remove the rear fan/temperature controls. Refer to Auxiliary Heater and Air Conditioning Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  12. Remove the cargo lamp. Refer to Cargo Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  13. Remove the liftgate weather-strips. Refer to Liftgate Weatherstrip Replacement in Body Rear End.
  14. Remove the roof auxiliary air outlets, if equipped. Refer to Auxiliary Air Outlet Duct Replacement in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.

  15. Object Number: 452787  Size: SH
  16. Use J 38778 in order to remove the rear headliner push-in retainers.
  17. Push the headliner forward in order to release the locking tab at the front overhead console.
  18. Remove the headliner from the roof through the rear of the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the headliner to the roof through the rear of the vehicle.
  2. Align the locking tab at the front overhead console.
  3. Push the headliner rearwards in order to lock the headliner into place.

  5. Install the rear headliner push-in retainers.
  6. Install the roof auxiliary air outlets, if equipped. Refer to Auxiliary Air Outlet Duct Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  7. Install the liftgate weather-strips. Refer to Liftgate Weatherstrip Replacement in Body Rear End.
  8. Install the cargo lamp. Refer to Cargo Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  9. Install the rear fan/temperature controls. Refer to Auxiliary Heater and Air Conditioning Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.
  10. Install the reading lamps. Refer to Roof Side Rail Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  11. Install the rear corner upper garnish molding. Refer to Upper Rear Trim Finish Panel Replacement .
  12. Install the body side rear upper garnish molding. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  13. Install the upper pillar garnish molding. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  14. Install the rear headliner trim finishing molding. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Molding Replacement .
  15. Install the dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  16. Install the overhead console, if equipped. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  17. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  18. Install the front door opening Weather-strips. Refer to Front Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement in Doors.
  19. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
