Removal Procedure
- Remove the screws from
the rear quarter molding.
- Use J 25070
152 mm (6 in) from the
surface in order to heat the lower quarter molding. Use a circular motion
for 30 seconds when applying heat.
Notice: Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing
an emblem/name plate.
- Use a flat-bladed tool in order
to remove the quarter molding from the surface.
- Pull the lower quarter molding out, in order to release the retainers.
- Pull the lower quarter molding out, in order to release from the
lower locating pins.
- Pull the quarter molding up, in order to release from the upper
support.
- Remove the quarter molding from the quarter panel.
- Pull out the center pins
of the support retainers.
- Use J 25070

for 30 seconds when applying heat.

- Use a flat-bladed tool in order
to remove the quarter molding from the surface.
- Remove the quarter molding support from the quarter panel.
- Use oil-free naphtha or alcohol in order to clean the body panel.
- Remove all traces of adhesive from the body panel.
Installation Procedure
Important:
• | Do NOT touch the exposed adhesive tape with your hands. |
• | Do NOT allow the exposed adhesive tape collect any dirt or foreign
material. |
- Remove the protective liner from the back side of the support.
- Use a heat lamp or heat gun in order to warm the door to a minimum
of 21°C (70°F).
- Starting with the front
hole, insert the support retainers into the holes.
- Press in the support in order to ensure a maximum bond to the
quarter panel.
- Press in the center pins of the retainers.
- Use a heat lamp or heat gun in order to warm the door to a minimum
of 21°C (70°F).
- Install the quarter molding
to the quarter panel.
- Press the center flange
of the quarter molding into the 2 outer retainers.
- Press the locating pins into the holes of the quarter panel.
- Press the center flange of the quarter molding into the remainder
of the retainers on the quarter panel.
- Push the upper portion of the quarter molding inboard over the
retainers.
Important: Do NOT touch the adhesive backing.
- Remove the protective liner from the back side of the quarter molding.
- Press the bottom of the quarter molding inboard in order to ensure
a maximum bond to the quarter panel.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws
to the rear quarter molding.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
