Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Attempt to open the power sliding door (PSD) using both OPEN/CLOSE switches and the remote keyless entry transmitter.

Does the PSD open using any of the OPEN/CLOSE switches?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Does the sliding door alarm sound a tone when an OPEN/CLOSE switch is pressed?

Go to Step 8

  1. Enter the on-board diagnostic mode 3. Refer to On-Board Diagnostic Features .
  2. Open the PSD.
  3. Connect a test lamp from the unlatch actuator control circuit contact on the B-pillar door lock switch plate to ground.
  4. Press a PSD OPEN/CLOSE switch.

Does the test lamp flash when the OPEN/CLOSE switch is pressed?

Go to Step 5

Inspect the door lock switch plate for the following conditions:

    • Proper door plunger operation.
    • Clean electrical contact from the door plungers to the B-pillar contacts.
    • Proper alignment of the door plungers to the B-pillar contacts.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 18

Test the unlatch actuator control and ground circuits from the door lock switch plate plungers to the unlatch actuator connector for an open, high resistance, or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the unlatch actuator control circuit from the B-pillar door lock switch plate pads to the rear side door actuator control module connector for an open, high resistance, or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the transaxle range switch connector C1.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the battery positive voltage supply circuit terminal to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

  1. Connect a fused jumper wire from the battery positive supply circuit terminal to the park signal circuit terminal in the transaxle range switch harness connector.
  2. Attempt to open the PSD using an OPEN/CLOSE switch.

Does the PSD open properly?

Go to Step 12

Repair the battery positive voltage supply circuit to the transaxle range switch for an open or high resistance. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 18

Test the park signal circuit to the rear side door actuator control module for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 18

Inspect for poor connections at the transaxle range switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the transaxle range switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect for poor connections at the unlatch actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the unlatch actuator. Refer to Power Sliding Door Unlatch Actuator Replacement .

Inspect for poor connections at the rear side door actuator control module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the rear side door actuator control module. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.

Re-initialize the PSD and operate the system in order to verify the repair.
