J 42372 Headrest
Removal Tool
Removal Procedure
Head restraints are the double-post type that are adjustable up or down.
Only the solid-type head restraints have serviceable trim covers.
Removal of the head restraints can be accomplished by using the J 42372
or by fabricating a
similar tool. The rear seat head restraint has only 1 locking post. Only
one special tool or fabricated tool is necessary for the removal of the
head restraint.
- Raise the head restraint
to a full up position.
- Push the head restraint down just far enough in order to center
the locking clip (4) in the guide between the detents on the posts (3).
- Insert the J 42372
down the detent side of the post (3).
- Hold the tool down, and at the same time, lift the head restraint
upward in order to disengage the detent (3) from the guide (4).
- Lift the restraint out.
Installation Procedure
- Install the head restraint
posts (1) into the guides.
- Push the head restraint to a full down position.
- Raise the head restraint in order to ensure that the restraint
stops at the detent (3).
- Return the head restraint to its original position.
