Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Replacement Non European Emissions

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.
3. Remove the EGR valve retaining bolts.
4. Remove the EGR valve from the direct ignition system (DIS) ignition coil adapter.

1. Clean the DIS ignition coil adapter mating surface.
2. Install a new EGR valve gasket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

3. Install the EGR valve with the bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the exhaust gas recirculation valve retaining bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

4. Connect the vacuum hose to the EGR valve.
5. Connect the negative battery cable

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve connector.
3. Remove the EGR valve bolts.
4. Remove the EGR valve and gasket.

1. Install the EGR valve and gasket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the EGR valve bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the EGR valve bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

3. Connect the EGR valve connector.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
