Tools Required

J 45400 (DW320-010) Suspension Compressor

1. Remove the strut assembly. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement .
2. Fasten the strut assembly to the J 45400  (1).
3. Compress the front spring with the J 45400 .



4. Using an open end wrench (1) and the J 45400  (2) hold the threaded piston rod while removing the piston rod nut and washer with a commercially available double ring spanner, sharply offset.




Important: Record the position of the front spring locator relative to the strut assembly-to-knuckle bracket. Place the front spring locator back in the same position during assembly.

5. Remove the following components:

•	Upper strut mount

•	Mount bearing

•	Upper spring seat

•	Upper spring insulator

•

Washer

•	Hollow bumper

•	Coil Spring

•	Lower spring insulator

1. Install the following components:

•	Upper strut mount

•	Mount bearing

•	Upper spring seat

•	Upper spring insulator

•

Washer

•	Hollow bumper

•	Coil Spring

•	Lower spring insulator

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




2. Using an open end wrench (1) and the J 45400  (2), install the piston rod nut and washer.

Tighten
Tighten the piston rod nut and washer to 80 N·m (59 lb ft).




3. Using an open end wrench (1) and the J 45400  (2) ,compress the front spring.
4. Install the strut assembly.
