Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Insert airbag fuse F19 in the I/P fuse block.
  2. Caution: When enabling the SIR system, be extremely careful when installing the fuse and/or turning the ignition switch on. Stand clear of the inflator module and verify no loose objects are directly in front of the inflator modules. Possible personal injury or vehicle damage could result if an accidental deployment were to occur.

  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON and verify that the AIRBAG indicator flashes seven times and turns OFF. If it does not operate as described. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - SIR .
