The chime module is located under the right side of the A-pillar.

  1. Unbuckle the seat belt.
  2. Close the door of the vehicle.
  3. Turn ON the ignition.

Is the seat belt warning chime OK?

Go to Step 2

Go to Fasten Safety Belt Indicator/Chime Inoperative

  1. Disconnect the seat belt switch connector, located under the drivers seat.
  2. Connect a jumper between terminals on the harness side of the seat belt switch connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition switch.

Does the seat belt warning lamp turn ON?

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 4

Replace the seat belt switch.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

--

  1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
  2. Disconnect the drivers seat belt switch connector.
  3. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the ground and terminal 2 of the seat belt switch connector.

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?

0 ohms

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 5

Repair open circuit between terminal 2 of the seat belt switch and ground.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

  1. Remove instrument cluster.
  2. Inspect the seat belt warning lamp bulb.

Is the bulb OK?

--

Go to Step 8

Replace the warning lamp bulb.

Is the replacement complete?

--

System OK

Measure the voltage of terminal A20 of the instrument cluster.

Is the voltage equal to the specified value?

11-14 V

Go to Step 10

Repair the open circuit between terminal A20 of the instrument cluster and fuse F16.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Repair the open circuit between terminal A1 of the instrument cluster and terminal 1 of the seat belt switch.

Is the repair complete?
