Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1264532  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Separate the plastic clip from the end of each ball socket.
  3. Separate the ball sockets from the ball studs on the linkage bolts using a pry bar.
  4. Remove the control shift rod.

  5. Object Number: 1264545  Size: SH
  6. Remove the clip and the bolt from the universal joint.

  7. Object Number: 1264548  Size: SH
  8. Loosen the rod clamp bolt.
  9. Separate the linkage bolt from the shift tube.
  10. Remove the linkage lever assembly from the vehicle.

  11. Object Number: 1264549  Size: SH
  12. Remove both linkage lever bushings from the linkage lever assembly.

  13. Object Number: 1264550  Size: SH
  14. Remove the snap rings retaining the linkage bolts to the linkage lever assembly.

  15. Object Number: 1264551  Size: SH
  16. Disconnect the linkage bolts from the linkage lever.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1264551  Size: SH
  1. Connect the linkage bolts to the linkage lever.

  2. Object Number: 1264550  Size: SH
  3. Install the snap rings retaining the linkage bolts to the linkage lever assembly.

  4. Object Number: 1264549  Size: SH
  5. Coat the linkage lever bushing with silicone grease.
  6. Install both linkage lever bushings onto the linkage lever assembly.

  7. Object Number: 1264545  Size: SH
  8. Install the linkage lever assembly to the vehicle.
  9. Coat the universal joint bolt with silicone grease.
  10. Install the clip and the bolt to the universal joint.

  11. Object Number: 1264532  Size: SH
  12. Install the control shift rod.
  13. Press the ball joint sockets onto the ball studs on the linkage bolts.

  14. Object Number: 1264548  Size: SH
  15. Connect the linkage bolt to the shift tube.
  16. Adjust the shift linkage. Refer to Shift Linkage Adjustment .
  17. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  18. Tighten the rod clamp bolt.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the rod clamp bolt to 14 N·m (124 lb in).

  20. Connect the negative battery cable.
