Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1263994  Size: SH
  1. Siphon the power steering fluid from the fluid reservoir.
  2. Disconnect the pressure line pipe from the outlet connection on the power steering pump and return hose from the inlet connection on the power steering fluid reservoir.

  3. Object Number: 1263996  Size: SH
  4. Remove the pressure line pipe bracket bolt from the alternator.

  5. Object Number: 1263997  Size: SH
  6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  7. Remove the return line bracket bolt from the crossmember.

  8. Object Number: 1263998  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the pressure line fitting nut from the power steering gear inlet.
  10. Disconnect the return line fitting nut from the power steering gear outlet.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Remove the pressure line and the return line from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1263998  Size: SH
  1. Install the pressure line and return lines to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Connect the return line fitting nut to the power steering gear outlet.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  5. Connect the pressure line fitting nut to the power steering gear inlet.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  7. Install the return line bracket bolt to the crossmember.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m (6 lb ft).

  9. Install the pressure line pipe bracket bolt to the alternator.
  10. Tighten

        • Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m (6 lb ft) for the 2.0L DOHC only.
        • Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft) for the 1.8L SOHC only.

  11. Connect the pressure line pipe to the outlet connection on the power steering pump.
  12. Connect the return hose to the inlet connection on the power steering fluid reservoir.
  13. Fill the reservoir with power steering fluid to the MAX level.
  14. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
