Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1279853 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. .
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Remove the snorkel and air cleaner housing.
  4. Remove the nut on the compressor flange.
  5. Remove the sealing washer and discard it.
  6. Remove the 2 nuts on the flange of the evaporator.
  7. Remove the O-ring and discard it.

  8. Remove the bolt (1) and the nut (2) that secure the charge hose.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1279853 Size: SH
  1. Install a new O-ring seal to the suction hose at the evaporator flange.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the 2 nuts on the evaporator flange.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 14 N·m (10 lb ft).

  3. Install new sealing washers to the pilots of the suction/discharge block fitting.

    4. Important: The washers must be seated to the surface of the block fitting.

  4. Install the nut on the compressor flange.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  5. Install the bolt (1) and nut (2) that secure the discharge hose.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt and nut to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  6. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  7. Install the snorkel and air cleaner housing.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.
