Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Remove the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement .

    4. Object Number: 1279867 Size: SH
  4. Remove the nut and the suction/discharge hose from the compressor.
  5. Remove the 2 sealing washers. Discard the washers.
  6. Lift the vehicle and support the vehicle safely. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  7. Remove the engine cover.
  8. Disconnect the compressor clutch connector.
  9. Remove the 3 front compressor mounting bolts.
  10. Remove the 3 rear compressor mounting bolts.
  11. Remove the compressor.
  12. Drain the oil from the compressor into a container.
    13. 12.1. Remove the drain plug and drain the oil from the opening.
    12.2. Drain the oil from the suction port and the discharge port of the compressor.
    12.3. Measure and record the amount of oil drained. Discard the used oil.

Installation Procedure
  1. Add oil to the compressor. Use the exact amount of oil that was drained from the compressor.

    2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  2. Install the drain plug.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the drain plug to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  3. Install the compressor.

  4. Install the 3 front compressor mounting bolts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 38 N·m (28 lb ft).

  5. Tighten the 3 rear compressor mounting bolts.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  6. Connect the compressor clutch connector.
  7. Install the engine cover.
  8. Lower the vehicle.

    9. Object Number: 1279867 Size: SH

    Important: Seat the washers to the surface of the block fitting.

  9. Install new sealing washers to the pilots of the suction/discharge block fitting.
  10. Install the nut on the compressor flange.

    11. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  11. Install the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement .
  12. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
