Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement
.
- Remove the nut and the suction/discharge hose from the compressor.
- Remove the 2 sealing washers. Discard the washers.
- Lift the vehicle and support the vehicle safely. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the engine cover.
- Disconnect the compressor clutch connector.
- Remove the 3 front compressor mounting bolts.
- Remove the 3 rear compressor mounting bolts.
- Remove the compressor.
- Drain the oil from the compressor into a container.
12.1. | Remove the drain plug and drain the oil from the opening. |
12.2. | Drain the oil from the suction port and the discharge port of the compressor. |
12.3. | Measure and record the amount of oil drained. Discard the used oil. |
Installation Procedure
- Add oil to the compressor. Use the exact amount of oil that was drained from the compressor.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the drain plug.
Tighten
Tighten the drain plug to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the compressor.
- Install the 3 front compressor mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 38 N·m (28 lb ft).
- Tighten the 3 rear compressor mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Connect the compressor clutch connector.
- Install the engine cover.
- Lower the vehicle.
Important: Seat the washers to the surface of the block fitting.
- Install new sealing washers to the pilots of the suction/discharge block fitting.
- Install the nut on the compressor flange.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
- Install the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement
.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
