Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Caution: Refer to Sensing and Diagnostic Module Voltage after Ignition is Turned Off Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  4. Object Number: 1280469  Size: SH
  5. Remove the I/P storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the passenger SIR yellow electrical connector (1).
  7. Remove the 6 mounting bolts from the SIR bracket.
  8. Caution: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution in the Preface section.

  9. Remove the passenger SIR module from the I/P by pushing upward.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1280469  Size: SH
  1. Install the passenger SIR module to the instrument panel by pushing upward.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the 6 mounting bolts to the SIR bracket.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting screws to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  5. Connect the passenger SIR yellow electrical connector (1).
  6. Install the I/P storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement .
  7. Caution: When enabling the SIR system, be extremely careful when installing the fuse and/or turning the ignition switch on. Stand clear of the inflator module and verify no loose objects are directly in front of the inflator modules. Possible personal injury or vehicle damage could result if an accidental deployment were to occur.

  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
