Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1263907  Size: SH
  1. Turn the steering wheel until it is horizontal. This is the straight-ahead position. Make a mark on the steering column shaft that lines up with a mark on the intermediate shaft upper universal joint.
  2. Remove the upper pinch bolt from the universal joint on the intermediate shaft.

  3. Object Number: 1263908  Size: SH
  4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  5. Make a mark on the stub shaft housing that lines up with a mark on the intermediate shaft lower universal joint.
  6. Remove the lower pinch bolt from the universal joint on the intermediate shaft.
  7. Remove the nuts from the dash seal.
  8. Remove the intermediate shaft.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1263908  Size: SH
  1. Install the intermediate shafts.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the nuts to the dash panel.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 6 N·m (4 lb ft).

    Important: The marks on the intermediate shaft and the stub shafts should line up.

  5. Install the lower pinch bolt to the universal joint on the intermediate shaft.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Important: Place the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position with the spokes pointing down before attaching the lower and upper universal joint.

  7. Install the upper pinch bolt to the universal joint on the intermediate shaft.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
