    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air inlet duct bolts.
  3. Remove the air inlet duct assembly.

  4. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
  5. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.
  6. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.

    7. Object Number: 1263627 Size: SH
  7. Remove the exhaust flex pipe retaining nuts from the exhaust manifold studs.
  8. Remove the oxygen sensor.

    9. Object Number: 1263628 Size: SH
  9. Remove the exhaust manifold retaining nuts in the sequence shown.
  10. Remove the exhaust manifold and exhaust manifold gasket.

    11. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  11. Clean the sealing surfaces of the exhaust manifold and the cylinder head.
