1. Connect a scan tool.
2. Check for engine control DTCs.

Does the scan tool indicate that a vehicle speed sensor (VSS) DTC is set?

Go to Engine Controls

Go to Step 2

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove the instrument cluster.
3. Use an ohmmeter to measure the continuity of the wire between the instrument cluster connector terminal C3 and VSS.

Is an open circuit detected?

Go to Step 3

Go to Step 4

Repair the open circuit between the instrument cluster connector terminal C3 and VSS.

Did you complete the repair?

System OK

Replace the speedometer.
