Engine Mount Replacement Right Side

Tools Required

J 28467-B Universal Engine Support Fixture

Notice: Refer to Engine Mounting Notice in the Preface section.




1. Remove the air filter housing bolts.
2. Remove the air filter housing assembly.




Notice: When raising or supporting the engine for any reason, do not use a jack under the oil pan, any sheet metal, or crankshaft balancer. Jacking against the oil pan may cause it to crack or break.

3. Support the engine assembly using the J 28467-B  (1).



4. Remove the reaction upper rod and the reaction upper rod bracket bolts.
5. Remove the reaction upper rod and the reaction upper rod bracket.



6. Remove the engine mount bracket retaining bolt/nuts.
7. Remove the engine mount bracket.




Notice: Do not use belt dressing on the drive belt. Belt dressing causes the breakdown of the composition of the drive belt. Failure to follow this recommendation will damage the drive belt.

8. Remove the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement .
9. Remove the front timing belt cover bolts and the front timing belt cover.



10. Align the crankshaft pulley timing mark with the pointer, and the camshaft gears with the timing marks on the rear cover, by turning the crankshaft gear bolt.
11. Loosen the timing belt automatic tensioner bolt.
12. Turn the hex-key tab to relieve the belt tension.
13. Remove the timing belt.



14. Remove the timing belt idler pulley bolt/nut.
15. Remove the timing belt idler pulleys.



16. Remove the engine mount retaining bolts.
17. Remove the engine mount.

1. Install the engine mount.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the engine mount retaining bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the engine mount retaining bolts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).




3. Install the timing belt idler pulleys.
4. Install the timing belt idler pulley bolt/nut.

Tighten
Tighten the timing belt idler pulley bolt/nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).




5. Turn the hex-key tab on the timing belt tensioner and install the timing belt.
6. Tighten the timing belt automatic tensioner bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the timing belt automatic tensioner bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).




7. Install the front timing belt cover bolts and the front timing belt cover.
8. Install the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement .



9. Install the engine mount bracket .
10. Install the engine mount bracket retaining bolt/nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the bracket retaining bolt/nuts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).




11. Install the reaction upper rod and the reaction upper rod bracket.
12. Install the reaction upper rod and the reaction upper rod bracket bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the reaction upper rod bracket bolts to 75 N·m (55 lb ft).





Notice: When raising or supporting the engine for any reason, do not use a jack under the oil pan, any sheet metal, or crankshaft balancer. Jacking against the oil pan may cause it to crack or break.

13. Remove the engine assembly support fixture J 28467-B (1).

Tighten
Tighten the air filter housing assembly bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).




14. Install the air filter housing assembly.
15. Install the air filter housing bolts.

Engine Mount Replacement Lower

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
2. Remove the front fascia splash shield and engine under cover.
3. Remove the engine mount bracket bolt/nut.
4. Remove the engine mount bracket.
5. Remove the lower engine mount bolt.
6. Remove the lower engine mount.



7. Remove the engine mount bracket-to-engine block nuts.



8. Remove the engine mount bracket-to-engine block bolts.
9. Remove the engine mount bracket.

1. Install the lower engine mount.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

2. Install the lower engine mount bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the engine mount to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).




3. Install the engine mount bracket.



4. Install the engine mount bracket bolt/nut.

Tighten
Tighten the engine mount bracket bolt/nut to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).

5. Install the front fascia splash shield and engine under cover.
6. Lower the vehicle.
