J 42058 Frame Adapter Clamp

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Approved Equipment for Collision Repair Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1847138  Size: SH
  1. Use the J 42058 to secure the vehicle if pulling and straightening is required.
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  4. Remove all related panels and components.
  5. Remove or reposition electrical components and wiring harness as necessary to avoid damage.
  6. Remove wiring harness clips for transfer to new floor panel.
  7. Repair as much of the damage as possible to the factory specifications.
  8. Remove the outer reinforcements that attach to the floor panel and the frame rail.

  10. Locate and drill out the outer reinforcements that attach to the floor and to the structure.

  12. Locate and drill out the inner reinforcements that attach to the floor and to the structure.

    Important: Note the number and the location of the welds for installation of the new floor.

  14. Locate and remove all factory welds attaching the floor to the structure.

  16. Remove the floor panel from the vehicle.
  17. Save all brackets, mounting studs, and accessories for transfer to the new floor.

Installation Procedure

    Important: If the location of the original plug weld holes can not be determined, space the plug weld holes every 40 mm (1 1/2 in).

  1. Drill 8 mm (5/16 in) plug weld holes in the service part as necessary in the locations noted on the original panel.
  2. Prepare all mating surfaces as necessary for welding
  3. Apply GM-approved Weld-Thru Coating or equivalent to all mating surfaces. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair .

  5. Install the floor panel to the vehicle.

  6. Object Number: 1847214  Size: SH
  7. Using a MIG welder, weld the floor to the structure, duplicating the factory welds.

  8. Object Number: 1851082  Size: SH
  9. Using a MIG welder, weld the outer reinforcements to the floor to the structure, duplicating the factory welds.

  10. Object Number: 1847144  Size: SH
  11. Clean and prepare all welded surfaces.
  12. Install all of the related panels and components (1, 2, 3).
  13. Apply the sealers and the anti-corrosion materials to the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair .
  14. Paint the repair area. Refer to Paint Identification .
  15. Install all related panels and components.
  16. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  17. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
