J 42058 Frame Adapter Clamp
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Approved Equipment for Collision Repair Warning in the Preface section.
- Use the
J 42058 to secure the vehicle if pulling and straightening is required.
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Remove all related panels and components.
- Remove or reposition electrical components and wiring harness as necessary to avoid damage.
- Remove wiring harness clips for transfer to new floor panel.
- Repair as much of the damage as possible to the factory specifications.
- Remove the outer reinforcements that attach to the floor panel and the frame rail.
- Locate and drill out the outer reinforcements that attach to the floor and to the structure.
- Locate and drill out the inner reinforcements that attach to the floor and to the structure.
Note: Note the number and the location of the welds for installation of the new floor.
- Locate and remove all factory welds attaching the floor to the structure.
- Remove the floor panel from the vehicle.
- Save all brackets, mounting studs, and accessories for transfer to the new floor.
Installation Procedure
Note: If the location of the original plug weld holes can not be determined, space the plug weld holes every 40 mm (1 1/2 in).
- Drill 8 mm (5/16 in) plug weld holes in the service part as necessary in the locations noted on the original panel.
- Prepare all mating surfaces as necessary for welding
- Apply GM-approved Weld-Thru Coating or equivalent to all mating surfaces. Refer to
Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair.
- Install the floor panel to the vehicle.
- Using a MIG welder, weld the floor to the structure, duplicating the factory welds.
- Using a MIG welder, weld the outer reinforcements to the floor to the structure, duplicating the factory welds.
- Clean and prepare all welded surfaces.
- Install all of the related panels and components (1, 2, 3).
- Apply the sealers and the anti-corrosion materials to the repair area, as necessary. Refer to
Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair.
- Paint the repair area. Refer to
Paint Identification.
- Install all related panels and components.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling.
