Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to Approved Equipment for Collision Repair Warning in the Preface section.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

    3. Object Number: 1616264 Size: SH
  3. Remove all related panels and components.
  4. Repair as much of the damage as possible to factory specifications.
  5. Remove the quarter panel. Refer to Quarter Outer Panel Replacement.

    6. Warning: Refer to Foam Sound Deadeners Warning in the Preface section.

  6. Note the location and remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair.

    7. Object Number: 1616261 Size: SH

    Note: Do not damage any inner panels or reinforcements.

  7. Locate and drill out all factory rivets. Note the number and location of rivets for installation of the hinge pillar body reinforcement.

    8. Object Number: 1616262 Size: SH
  8. Remove the damaged hinge pillar body reinforcement.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1616262 Size: SH
  1. Position the hinge pillar body reinforcement.

    2. Object Number: 1616265 Size: SH
  2. Install rivets accordingly.
  3. Clean and prepare all surfaces.
  4. Apply the sealers and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair.
  5. Paint the repair area. Refer to Paint Identification.
  6. Install the quarter panel. Refer to Quarter Outer Panel Replacement.
  7. Install all related panels and components.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
