The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
The vehicle may have a concern of an oil leak at the transmission converter housing or transmission case to housing gasket or rear lower engine oil pan bolts.
Install black light dye in transmission and run vehicle until dye is visible with a black light. Carefully inspect with the light to check axle seals to make sure a seal leak isn’t running down the case and ending up on the case to housing split line.
Correct any axle seal leaks using appropriate SI procedures.
Inspect Converter housing to oil pan weep hole and the two lower rear engine oil pan bolts with black light.
If either location shows leakage with dye the source is most likely the torque converter hub seal.
Follow SI procedures for the torque converter hub seal replacement.
Once transmission is removed from vehicle, inspect with black light to assure the leak is coming from the seal.
Order new seal from the Warranty Parts Center.
