Subject: | Trip Reset Stem Sticks or Unwanted Trip Odometer Reset Possible DTC B3567 |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
A customer and/or technician may comment on one or more of the following concerns:
- The Trip Reset Stem is stuck.
- The Trip Odometer is resetting to 0 (zero) miles/Kilometers by itself.
- The Trip Odometer is flashing 0 (zero) or that the vehicle has DTC B3567 Symptom Code 59.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The Trip Reset Stem may be binding in the hole of the IPC Trim Bezel. To correct this condition, perform the following procedure:
- Remove the IPC Trim Plate Bezel, following SI Document ID# 1853743.
- Slightly loosen the IPC screws and adjust the IPC to the right.
- While holding the IPC in place, tighten the IPC screws.
- Cycle the Tilt Steering Column Up/Down to verify there is no interference or contact of the IPC to steering column opening filler as contact will make an undesirable noise when adjusting the tilt column position.
- Reinstall the IPC trim plate bezel, verifying the tabs of the bezel fit into the upper dash pad.
- Rotate/spin the trip reset stem and depress it several times with each rotation to verify it no longer binds.
- Reinstall remaining trim pieces.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
