Subject: | Intermittently No Voices Can Be Heard When Playing a DVD |
Models: | 2007 GMC Acadia With Radio RPO UVA |
This PI was superseded to update Recommendation/Instructions. Please discard PIT4281.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
A customer may complain that intermittently they can not hear any sound from the center channel when playing a DVD. The center channel normally contains the voices in a movie on a 5.1 Surround sound DVD. This concern may happen if the Play button is pressed while a chime event is active.
Note: It is also important to make sure the speaker fade control is not faded all the way to the rear speakers. If the sound is faded all the way to the rear, then no sound will be heard from the front speakers including the front center channel which will contain the voice on a 5.1 Surround sound DVD.
If the customer has the concern listed above, and the speakers are not faded all the way to the rear, reprogram the radio with the most recent calibrations.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
