TCC SHUDDER OR EARLY APPLY RESTRICTION IN TCC SOLENOID

MODELS: 1983 LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS OR CABALLERO WITH THM 350C (M-31) OR THM 350C (MV-4) BETWEEN SERIAL NUMBERS B3CO3D AND BCD12D

Some Chevrolet built THM 250C or 350C transmissions between serial numbers B3CO3D and BCD12D may experience a condition of torque converter clutch shudder or early apply.

If this condition is encountered, the cause may be a restriction in the T.C.C. solenoid assembly which prevents it from exhausting. This causes the solenoid to function as though it were applied at all times. Therefore, the converter clutch will apply whenever the 2-3 shift is made and will not release until the transmission is downshifted to a lower gear.

To correct the condition, the T.C.C. solenoid must be replaced.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
