1985 CABALLEROS EQUIPPED WITH A THM 200-4R AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (RPO MW9) - BUILT AT RAMOS ARIZPE ONLY
General Motors has determined that some 1985 GMC Caballero models equipped with RPO MW9 (Automatic Transmission) may have been assembled with the incorrect speedometer driven gear assembly.
The incorrect speedometer driven gear will result in the speedometer indicating a vehicle speed which is approximately 10% slower than the actual vehicle speed. For example, when the vehicle speed is 55 mph, the speedometer will indicate approximately 50 mph.
To correct this condition, the speedometer driven gear will be replaced in all involved vehicles.
Involved are certain 1985 Caballero models equipped with a THM 200-4R automatic transmission (RPO MW9) and built within the following VIN breakpoints.

Dear GMC Truck Owner:
General Motors has determined that some 1985 Caballero models equipped with RPO MW9 (Automatic Transmission) may have been assembled with the incorrect speedometer driven gear assembly.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
