Circuit Description

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) receives various serial data messages from other modules during normal system operation. In vehicles that are equipped with traction control, the EBCM is much more dependant on serial data messages than the EBCM in vehicles not equipped with traction control.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition is ON.

Conditions for setting the DTC

The EBCM does not receive any one of a number of required serial data messages after the message is requested.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The EBCM sets DTC C0268 for as long as the Condition for setting the DTC is present.
    • The EBCM disables the TCS if the vehicle is equipped with traction control.
    • The traction fault message is displayed if the vehicle is equipped with traction control.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present and you use the scan tool Clear DTCs function.
